NORRIS WADDELL

Norris Waddell, II was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and resided there until his mid-teens. Having learned to play the piano at the age of five, Norris developed a love for music at an early age. During the last thirty years, he has gained an extensive background in music that has blossomed and grown. Norris has had the opportunity to showcase his managerial and leadership abilities by managing a plethora of music groups and unique up-and-coming -acts over the years. Jazz and gospel musicians like Larry Scott Sr., George Russell Jr., Buddy Lakins, and Ola Flowers have played major roles in Norris’ musical career both influentially and compositionally.

In 2000, Norris decided to begin his journey in marketing and birthed his first LLC, The Central Source (TCS), in conjunction with friend and colleague Joe Palumbo. Marketing music and the business end of affairs has always been a true love for Norris. He understands the success rate in the music industry is not always promising, so he formed TCS, initially, to pass on his knowledge to those who wanted to learn the ins and outs of the trade. (He has since expanded his vision to include a multitude of diverse businesses.) Norris’ primary responsibilities include strategic planning, payroll, training new account executives, and managing partnerships with other firms—all the while continuing to perfect his craft and first love, music. The Central Source is an entertainment-marketing firm that has led Norris to discover his passion for assisting clients in reaching their goals and ambitions while expanding his horizons to explore and include additional business domains.

In July of 2002, Norris resumed his collegiate studies at the Art Institute of Atlanta and graduated in May of 2006. During this time, Norris was able to work his way through school by managing The Main Street Bar and Grill located in East Point, GA. He introduced many events to the area such as Jazz Brunch, Open Mic Comedy Night, and Wednesday Night “Fooligans.” In 2006, strategic planning began to fall into place for several major, up-and-coming civic events, which culminated in the formation of the InkMe Tattoo Convention in 2006, later changed to Derby Ink convention, which took place in Harrisburg, PA. The idea behind Derby Ink was to merge two favorite American pastimes into one climactic event: Roller Derby and Tattooing. Derby Ink Invitational rekindled the fire for many recreational enthusiasts by reintroducing the great sport of roller derby back into the public spotlight. Derby Ink was also the first event of its kind in the Harrisburg area, and in April 2013, the event was held at the Farm Show Complex Arena and will continue to be held there on a biannual basis.

His passion for assisting clients and helping them reach their goals did not end with solely music. So, in 2005, after completing college at the Art Institute of Atlanta, he expanded his vision to include all types of business. His primary responsibilities included strategic planning, payroll, training new account executives, and managing the partnerships with other firms--all while continuing to perfect his craft and first love, music. Having played the piano since the age of five, this Pittsburgh native has an extensive background in music, which has been progressively sharpened over the past 30 years. Norris eventually went on to found TCS LLC in response to public need while imparting his knowledge to those who wanted to learn the ins and outs of the business. In 2008, Norris conceived Derby Ink (originally called InkMe), which is a series of combined roller-derby and tattoo convention events held in Harrisburg, PA.

Magic Mix Room

Magic Mix Room, Las Vegas: Four-time Grammy winning recording engineer, Jimmy Douglass, heads magic Mix Room, located in Las Vegas. Magic Mix Room, LV will initially house two recording studios with the intention of adding two more in the near future. Magic Mix Room will also maintain a 12,000-square-foot sound stage used for recording music videos, commercials, and other video recording needs of future clients. Mr. Douglass will bring top-tier artists and his existing client book to Source’s Las Vegas complex while serving their recording and production needs. In partnership with Source, Magic Mix Room, LV’s production services are expected to be the main generator of revenue as well as serving as a tremendous lead generator for Source’s other companies.

Jimmy Douglass (also known as The Senator) is an American four-time Grammy winning recording engineer and record producer whose prolific career has spanned more than four decades.

In the early 1970′s, Jimmy started his studio career as a part-time tape duplicator at Atlantic Records studios in New York City while still attending high school. There, he learned how to operate the studio’s custom-made 16-channel console and observed well, while being trained by (as well as working with) some of the greatest engineers, producers and record moguls of our era including Tom Dowd, Arif Mardin, Jerry Wexler, and Ahmet Ertegun. During his first session behind the faders, he was encouraged by Wexler to engineer the recording session for the demo of a brand-new, upcoming band. He went on to work with great Atlantic Recording artists including Aretha Franklin, Hall & Oates, Roberta Flack, Donny Hathaway, Foreigner, Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC.

During the 1980′s, Douglass continued to hone his engineering skills while also assuming the role of producer. He engineered and produced established artists including The Rolling Stones, Slave, Odyssey, Roxy Music, and Gang of Four. In the early 1990’s, Douglass worked mainly on jingles and post-production. This style of work taught him the importance of working efficiently and capturing the vibe, which would greatly benefit him in the years to come. In 1994, he began working with up and coming contemporary R&B/hip hop producer Timbaland, and served as his main engineer for more than a decade. They would eventually collaborate on classic projects for artists like Aaliyah, Missy Elliot, Ginuwine and Jay-Z.

At the start of the new millennium, Douglass continued engineering and mixing more Timbaland-produced artists including Snoop Dogg, Bjork, and Grammy-award-winning albums for Justin Timberlake. In addition, he mixed artists like Rob Thomas, Sean Paul, Kanye West, Ludacris, Al Green, John Legend, and Duran Duran. Presently, he continues to display his versatility by remaining current, while drawing from his years of experience. Douglass is best known for bringing unconventional techniques into the studio and encouraging artists to transcend genre restrictions. He is credited with bringing a raw edge to sound, specifically bringing a heavy funk-bass sound into rock music. His hard work and immense talent has carved a place for him among some of the most respected engineers and mixers in the world.
